044 Road Book A – April 25, 1800

I Thomas Casey of the town of Poughkeepsie in the

County of Dutches do hereby certify and make knowing
that by virtue of an act of the legislature of the state of
New York intitled “an act for the gradual abolition of
slavery” passed the 29th March 1799 I have and by these
presents do manumit and set free the following persons
being the slaves of me the said Thomas Casey. To wit..
Prince a Nigro man aged thirty seven years. Countess
a Nigro woman of the age of thirty three years. Hannah
a nigro girl of the age of sixteen years Ginny a
nigro girl of the age of fourteen years Jacob a negro
boy of the age of twelve years Lucy a negro girl
of the age of ten years Miranda a negro girl
of the age of eight years Mary a negro girl
of the age of five years and Prince a negro
boy of the age of two years In testimony whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
Twenty fifth day of April in the year one thousand Eight Hundred
