I John Cooke of the town of poughkeepsie in Dutches —
County and state of New York Merchant in pursuance of the
Statute in such case made and provided do hereby certify
and declare that the following is a statement of the names
ages and sexes of two negro children, born, as is hereafter
mentioned inb my family of a Negro woman named
Nancy who is and at the birth of the said children
Was a slave to me the said John Cooke
The names ages and sexes of the said negro
Children are as follows, to wit,

Tunis a Negro male child born in the month
of June in the year one thousand seven hundred
and ninety nine

Loretta A Female negro child born in the
month of November in the year one thousand
eight hundred and two.
And I the said John Cooke do hereby further
Declare that it is my will and Intention that
the above named Tunis shall be free when he
shall arrive at the age of twenty Eight Years
