Poughkeepsie Journal – March 6, 1798

TO BE SOLD,
A very likely Negro
WENCH, about 24 years of age, capable of
doing all kinds of house work, such as cook-
ing, baking, washing, ironing, and clear-
starching, &c. She also understands the care
of a dairy, and is very good tempered. She
is sold for no other fault but her love of li-
quor - and in a family where she would not
have access to it, she would be a valuable
servant. Her price is seventy pounds, and
a credit with a safe bond, until the first of
May. Apply to the subscriber at Green
Hill, Redhook-landing.
