Justices of the peace for the County of Dutchess DO
By these presents pursuant to the Directions of a statute
of the state of New York Entitled an Act Concerning
slaves passed the 22th Day of february 1788 certify
That Nero Davis a negroe man slave of John Mott
of the said Town of Poughkeepsie appears to be
under thirty years of age and of sufficient
ability to provide for him self.. Witness our
Hands this Nineteenth day of January one
