079 Road Book A – April 21, 1810

Francis Pells Manumission of Dick Know all men by these presents that I  Francis Pells of the town of Poughkeepsie do hereby certify and make known, that I have this day set free and manumitted my slave Dick Francis, a man of coulour said to be thirty years of age or thereabouts agreeably to an act of the Legislature of the  state of new York concerning slaves and servants passed in April 1801. And do here- by for myself and legal representatives &  every of them absolutely and freely renounce all right of property that I heretofore had in the said Dick Francis, and do forever acquit him from all kind of dependance as a slave to me or any other person who may claim under me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the ninth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and ten.
