We the undersigned the overseers of the Poor of
the Town of Poughkeepsie in the County of Dutchess
and State of New York, Do certify that Sam a man
of colour, who has this day been manumitted, and
set free by James Talmadge Jun.r of Poughkeepsie
appears to us to be under the age of forty five years
and of sufficient abilityto provide for himself
