POUGHKEEPSIE, August 21.
LAST Thursday evening, a duel was
fought on the plain, southeast of this
town, between Mr. Frank Hendrickson
and Mr. Nero Davis, natives of Africa.
It seems the difference between them
arose on the fight between the Ambus-
cade and the Boston frigates, at which
time they fought with the fist; but the
latter (who it seems had taken the post
of the Ambuscade) being too heavy for
the former, a challenge to fight with
pistols was given — which being accepted,
they each fired two shot, and then made
up the matter; both the Gentlemen es-
caped unhurt.
