Examination of Mary Cary – May 1[9?]th 1807
The Examination of Mary Cary ^alias Green taken upon Oath before us the
Seventeenth day of May 1807. Says that she is upwards of
eight[een H? ] years of age and has always understood that she was ^born in a
place called Middlebush in Phishkill town, that her parents were
people of colour and free, that her father bound her a servant to
Christian Newcomb now of the town of poughkeepsie, by Indenture
as she believes, and that she lived with him above seven years
that she left the service of the said Newcomb in July last.
her father whose name was Green? died a number of years since
her mother afterwards as she understood was afterwards married to
Tom Cary her present husband, the deponent has made her
home at Tom Cary’s since her removal from Newcomb. the said Cary
now resides at MiddleBush and that one of the Overseers of the poor
of the town of Phishkill on Tuesday last ordered her to depart to
the town of Poughkeepsie, although her parents were then and are
still willing to support her during her lying in untill she is able to provide for her self.

A certificate was made out directed to the poor
masters of the town of Fishkill owning the above
named Mary Green to be legally setteled in the
Town of poughkeepsie which being handed to her she set out on her return for fishkill ___
