Examination of Phillis Anthony  Transcription:  Examination of Philis Anthony Dutchess County fs. The examination of Philis Anthony taken upon oath before us the 17 Augt. says she has been the slave of Robert Williams and was sold several times, that her last master was Cou[r]t Dubois of Clinton town. She was born a slave – at her freedom, that is whe[re ? n] her time was out with Dubois, she had freedom papers, but  does not know what has become of them _ from  Dubois she has worked in several places. + has  hired tenements, and paid Rent(crossed out) of 8 and 10 shillings a month _ she paid tax to Mr./Wm Manney. but does not  know whether it was for the house or personal estate  sworn before us on the  17 Augt 1809       Philis Anthony + her mark
